송광익 작가는 1986년부터 현재까지 자신의 작업에 ‘주제 의식’과 ‘방법 정신’을 관철하며 투영시켜 오고 있다. 그의 작업 과정은 실험적이고 과감하며 자본주의와 물질문명 같은 시대적 흐름 안에서 사유하며 영감을 받는다. 그의 초기 작업은 엥포르멜 경향의 반 구상적인 회화로 시작하였고 2000년대에 들어서 본격적으로 평면을 벗어나 신문지와 한지, 그리고 테이프와 필름 같은 매체를 사용한 입체작업을 천착해 나아가고 있다. 작가가 사용하는 재료는 투과성, 반투명성, 서로 부딪히고 흔들리는 성질을 가지며 그가 전달하고 싶은 메시지를 내포한다. 이러한 매체를 단순하고 반복적인 행위로 구축된 최종의 형태는 고고하며 차분한 분위기를 감상자에게 전달한다.
Since 1986, artist Song Kwangik has consistently infused his work with a strong sense of theme and methodical spirit. His creative process is experimental and bold, drawing inspiration from reflection on contemporary currents such as capitalism and material civilization. His early works began with semi-abstract paintings influenced by Art Informel, but from the 2000s onward he has moved beyond the flat surface, delving into three-dimensional works using materials such as newspapers, hanji (traditional Korean paper), tape, and film. The materials he employs possess qualities of permeability, translucency, and instability—colliding and trembling—while simultaneously embodying the messages he seeks to convey. The final forms, constructed through simple and repetitive actions, radiate a solemn yet serene atmosphere that resonates with viewers.
