2024년은 통인 100년의 해로 제 5회 한국판화전 <새겨진 기억 Engraved Memory>을 기획하였다. 글씨나 형상을 파는, 잊지 아니하도록 마음 속에 깊이 기억하는. 판화를 기념하는 방식은 ‘새긴다’는 조형언어를 겨냥한다. 그렇게 새겨진 기억은 중첩되어 하나의 이야기가 되고 그 이야기들은 모여 우리의 일부가 된다. 직접 제작하는 회화나 조각과 달리 재료와 작가가 ‘판’이라는 매개를 통해 간접적으로 끊임없이 호흡해야 하는 판화는 1960년대부터 실험적 매체로 주목받았다. 우리 미술사에 새겨진 이 여정을, 각기 다른 재료의 판에 자유롭지만 복잡한 프로세스로 새겨낸 작가 12인과 함께하고자 한다.

2024 is the year of the 100th year of Tongin, and the fifth engraving exhibition, "Engraved Memory", was planned. Selling letters or figures, remembering deeply in your heart so that you don't forget them. The way to celebrate prints is aimed at the formative language of "engraving". Memories engraved in this way overlap to become one story, and the stories gather and become part of us. Unlike paintings and sculptures that are produced by themselves, prints that materials and artists have to constantly breathe indirectly through the medium of "pan" have attracted attention as an experimental medium since the 1960s. I would like to work with 12 artists who carved this journey engraved in our art history through a free but complex process on plates of different materials.
