통인가게는 고미술과 현대 미술, 현대 공예가 공존하는 복합 문화예술 공간으로 올해 100주년을 맞이하였다. 통인화랑(1974 ~ 2024)은 지난 반세기의 역사 속에서 역량 있는 작가들과 함께 호흡하면서 현대 미술의 변천과 그 흐름을 담은 통인 백년의 고독 展을 기획하였다. 1900 ~ 1960년은 한국의 전통미술과 서구의 근대미술이 교차하는 시기였다. 일제 강점기, 6.25 한국 전쟁, 서구 문명의 유입 등 혼란과 격변의 흐름 속에서 한국 화단은 역량 있는 작가들을 다수 배출하였다. 특히, 1976년 박서보 화백의 묘법 첫 개인전은 한국 현대 미술사 흐름의 변곡점이 되었으며, 단색화의 단초가 된 중요한 전시로 기록되어 있다. 통인화랑은 지난 50년 동안 기획 전시를 묵묵히 실행해 왔으며, 한국 미술의 정체성의 확립, 한국 화단의 발전에 기여해 왔다. TONG-IN 100 YEARS OF SOLITUDE 展은 통인만의 시각을 담은 전시로 현대 회화의 경계를 넘나드는 역량 있는 작가들과 함께 해 온 통인화랑의 지난 반세기의 역사를 돌아볼 수 있는 전시이다.
The Store from TONG-IN, a cultural and artistic space where antique art, contemporary art, and modern crafts coexist, celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Since its founding in 1974, Tongin Gallery has worked closely with talented artists, capturing the evolution and trends of modern art. To mark this milestone, the gallery presents the exhibition Tongin: 100 Years of Solitude. The period from 1900 to 1960 was a time when traditional Korean art intersected with Western modern art. Amid the turbulence of Japanese colonization, the Korean War, and the influx of Western culture, Korea's art scene produced many exceptional artists. Notably, Park Seo-Bo's first solo exhibition of Écriture in 1976 became a turning point in Korean modern art, laying the foundation for Dansaekhwa (monochrome painting) and earning its place as a pivotal moment in art history.For the past 50 years, Tongin Gallery has remained dedicated to curating exhibitions that contribute to the identity of Korean art and the growth of its art scene. The Tongin: 100 Years of Solitude exhibition reflects the gallery’s unique perspective, offering a retrospective of its half-century history and its collaboration with groundbreaking artists who have expanded the boundaries of contemporary painting.
