제 2회 거목전은 도정(陶丁) 박순관 선생 아래에서 전통 도예의 기법과 도자 철학을 함께 배워온 다섯 명의 작가가, 그 공통의 기반 위에 자신만의 조형 언어를 구축해 온 결과를 모은 자리이다. 수레질, 유약, 장작가마, 라쿠 등의 기법을 충실히 익히는 과정 속에서 흙과 불에 대한 감각을 내면화하였고, 이를 바탕으로 각 작가는 자신만의 시선과 감수성을 더해 재해석을 시도하고 있다. 개별 작품은 각기 독립된 세계를 형성하면서도, 동일한 사사(師事)의 경험이라는 하나의 장(field) 안에서 상호 반응하며 다층적인 해석을 이끌어낸다. 같은 출발선에서 시작했지만 각기 다른 조형적 지점에 도달한 이들의 작업은 실용성과 조형성, 전통성과 동시대성의 경계를 탐색하며, 작은 시작이 어떻게 다양한 창작적 실천으로 무한히 확장될 수 있는지를 보여준다.
The 2nd Geomok Exhibition brings together the works of five artists who studied under master potter Park Soon-gwan, learning both the techniques of traditional ceramics and the philosophy of pottery. Through the rigorous practice of wheel-throwing, glazing, wood-firing, and raku, they have internalized a sensitivity to clay and fire. Building upon this shared foundation, each artist reinterprets tradition by adding their own perspective and sensibility. While each work establishes an independent world of its own, together they resonate within the common field of apprenticeship, generating layered interpretations. Though they began from the same starting point, the artists have reached distinct sculptural horizons. Their works explore the boundaries between functionality and form, tradition and contemporaneity, revealing how a modest beginning can expand infinitely into diverse creative practices.
