작가 이종능은 ‘토흔(Clay Traces)’이라는 자신만의 철학과 오랜 작업 경험을 바탕으로, 자연과 인간, 그리고 우주가 맞닿는 미세한 지점을 흙이라는 매체로 풀어내고 있다. 비대칭 속에서도 균형을 찾아가는 조화, 투박함 속에 숨어 있는 울림, 손끝의 호흡을 따라 자연스럽게 흐르는 선과 색채는 그의 작품 안에서 하나의 생명처럼 움직인다. 이종능은 흙이 품고 있는 시간의 흔적을 기물의 형태로 끌어올리며, 인간이 미지의 세계를 향해 던지는 끝없는 동경과 존재의 여운을 조형으로 기록한다.
