Artist Song Kwang-ik has traversed a wide range of stylistic periods, from his early Informel-inspired image painting to his current constructive object-based works. He has explored the intrinsic material identity of hanji, a traditional East Asian paper used in ink painting, and adopted it as a primary medium of artistic expression. His Paper Objects series, built through the accumulation of simple and repetitive actions, reveals a tangible, material presence emerging from the matière itself, while conveying a sense of honesty and unadorned simplicity.
