작가 김정범은 파편화된 사물과 잔해를 재구성해 새로운 존재를 만들어낸다. 해체된 요소들은 본래의 기능과 맥락을 잃지만, 다시 결합되며 새로운 생명력을 얻는다. 이러한 형상은 재현 이후, 즉 ‘포스트-미메시스(Post-Mimesis)’의 지점에서 나타나는 존재로, 기계적 구조와 유기적 형태가 뒤섞여 동물도 인간도 아닌 중간적 상태를 이룬다. 작가는 이를 ‘토템’이라 부르며, 숭배의 대상이 아니라 남겨진 것들이 만들어낸 새로운 질서이자 존재의 흔적을 의미한다.
Artist Kim Jeong Bum reconstructs fragmented objects and debris to create new forms of existence. The dismantled elements lose their original function and context, yet through recombination they acquire a renewed vitality. These forms emerge after representation—at the point of “Post-Mimesis”—where mechanical structures and organic shapes intermingle, resulting in an intermediate state that is neither animal nor human. The artist refers to these as “totems,” not as objects of worship, but as a new order formed from what remains, and as traces of existence.
